some inspiration for the day

I have done a lot of research today, unlike most days but today I spent my time searching for images all over the internet that inspired me in any which way.  I really can't believe how many wonderful photographers that are out there.  It's frightening yet amazing.  So, here we go, the images that I have fallen in love with today...

Múm, Green Grass Of Tunnel

Romaine Brooks

Romaine Brooks has to be one of my top five favourite painters.  She understood the importance of women's liberation and equal rights and has changed attitudes of homosexuality since the 19th century.   Her paintings were exhibited for the first time in America in 1971, one year after she died in Nice, France. A woman with attitude and a survivor, she had style and portrayed this through her paintings.  I am a great lover of Romaine.

And here is a photo of her studio where she created these paintings.

Large Format

After years of wanting to pick up a large format camera, I finally had the courage to do so!  Today I tested some large format 5 by 4 polaroid with my friend Aaron from class.  Working with Aaron is great and together it makes it a bit easier.   It is an intimidating object but equally incredible.  I have never been so patient with a camera before and I hope to master it one day.  These are a few shots (that took half the day) of Amanda....(she was also equally patient...thank goodness for that!)

good ol' polaroid

I do have a great love for polaroid, that fact that it's instantly tangible is amazing.  Natural light, especially in black and white still excites me to this day!

So, I decided to mess around and have some fun with polaroid.

three

Here is the third part to the series I have done with Nikoo.  Testing the lighting and location.  Again wearing a vintage piece that I picked up on sale at Paper Dress on curtain road.  Working with Nikoo has been great, I look foward to more tests!

one

These are just a few tests that I did with my good pal Nikoo Hamzavi, she is so natural and so beautiful and  we always have so much fun when messing around with photoshoots.  There are 4 different parts to our shoot and I will be posting my edit's from each part.  This is my first post on my first blog and I thought this would be the right time to post them.... This part of the shoot we used a 1930's opera coat from Annie's Vintage... Thanks Nikoo x
